Hotel Industry to Continue Growing

February 3, 2013 by rochelle in Business with 0 Comments

The growing trend in international and domestic tourism is giving the hotel industry a much-needed boost. As a result, hotel managements are on full expansion mode.

Quest Serviced Apartment chairman Paul Constantinou said the company is opening a new site at Sydney Olympic Park. He added that the expansion would also include New South Wales.

Mantra Group, meanwhile, is expanding with its two properties—Mantra Lake Tekapo and Peppers Portage—in New Zealand. Chief executive Bob East said the expansion is part of plans to expand in Asia-Pacific.

The addition of the two properties makes for the 12 properties that Mantra Group already owns. It currently owns two Mantra resorts, eight Peppers retreats and resorts, and two BreakFree resorts.

Mantra Group is also expected to open Mantra Nusa Dua in Indonesia this March. This is Mantra Group’s first property in Asia. Another development will open in the Naisoso Island in Fiji early next year.

East boasted that the Peppers brand is one of the fastest-growing brands in New Zealand. Four properties were added in 2012 and the brand would further expand this year.

LaSalle Asia strategist Paul Guest said the economic growth in Southeast Asia and China has boosted the spending power of middle-income families. They have more money to spend on travel and are looking for quality when it comes to accommodations.

A LaSalle report also indicated that the domestic travel market is now in its normal state after 10 years of continuous decline.
