Accountant Negotiates Jail Time

Lynette Liles has pleaded to the New South Wales Supreme Court to give her leniency over her conviction on four tax fraud cases.

The former president of the National Institute of Accountants has signed an agreement that she will testify and serve as Crown witness against two of her former clients. The move is to negotiate a reduced jail time for the accountant.

Liles is said to agree to go against Jane and Ronald Sakovits. Four other clients of Liles have already served their jail terms, which included Wayne Cameron and Michael Boughen.

Cameron and Boughen are industry bigwigs behind several Australian TV shows like Celebrity Big Brother, Deal or No Deal, and Perfect Match.

According to David Price, Liles’ barrister, only 10 of Liles’ 1,500 clients were involved with the tax evasion schemes.

Last February, Liles pleaded guilty over charges that she was involved in at least four tax sham conspiracies. She faced eight charges of conspiring to cause massive loss and defrauding the commonwealth.
