Hollister Sets Shop in Australia

August 20, 2012 by rochelle in Business with 0 Comments

Hollister is set to expand its operations in Australia, with the opening of its first store in the country next year. The brand is part of the US retail group, Abercrombie & Fitch, with estimated annual earnings of over $4.16 Billion.

Hollister joins other retailers from different companies all over the world, which are reportedly set to open stores in Australia, too. These are Uniqlo, Banana Republic, Forever 21, H&M, J. Crew and Victoria’s Secret.

In the last year, Zara, a retailer from Spain, has already opened four stores in the country, while Topshop, a retailer from Britain is reportedly eyeing a second location soon.

This is a good boost for the country, as there were reports regarding the slowdown of retail spending among consumers due to the global economic crisis.

Hollister’s main target is the youth market and the style of their merchandise is inspired by fashion from California. The stores of Hollister have a peculiar appeal in that it is decked with vintage interiors and beach shacks, imbibing the spirit of California.

Their most famous items are their jeans and shirts, as well as surfing apparels that could be a threat to other retailers like Billabong and Rip Curl.

Other analysts say that the entry of Hollister’s may also take away the youth market, who shop at Myer and David Jones. Many brands from international stores are made available to consumers from these companies.

In fact, Davy Jones has just also made an announcement that it will be bringing in 85 new brands to its department stores, exclusively.
