Aussies Do Not Like Facebook
More Aussies are turning their backs on Facebook as they see the site as promoting a culture of self-absorption and narcissism. They are also increasingly getting worried over their future.
According to Ipsos Mackay Report, many Aussies fear that the mining boom would end soon. Close to 100 participants also said they feel the same or even worse than a year ago.
More Australians are also critical of the Gillard government but they are uncertain whether the Coalition woyld would be any different.
Rebecca Huntley expressed surprise over general dislike to the Gillard government. She added that women are more hostile with Gillard than men.
Huntley is Ipsos Australia’s executive director.
Huntley, however, is more surprised with the emergence of a more critical look at Facebook. She explained that the respondents believe the social networking site promotes narcissism and self-absorption.
Status updates have also become time-consuming and exhausting. Although they want to stay connected with friends, many are also considering whether they should shut down their Facebook accounts.
The Ipsos report also showed that respondents feel that the information posted on Facebook are trivial and repetitive. The younger populace is also worried that Facebook is being used to spy on potential applicants or look into the lives of employees.
One advantage of Facebook, however, is that consumers can lodge their complaints on brands’ Facebook pages. It has also become a channel to address those complaints.
