Australia Post Expands Digital Services

March 28, 2012 by Ben Collins in Business

Say goodbye to postal mails, printed bills and other hard-copy documents. The Australia Post has announced that it is expanding its service by launching a digital mailbox.

The new service provides Australians the option to store, view and manage all bills, banking statements and other digital documents to a personal digital mailbox. These digital documents can also include birth and marriage certificates, school records, and the likes.

The digital vault is not the same as an email inbox. This personal management system provides more security and easier management, and allows users to have more control of their documents.

Australia Post is trying to keep up with the lives of many Australians who have gone online. Even the new generations of Australians are no longer familiar with traditional and printed documents and the new service allows Australia Post to keep up with the changing times.

30 new superstores will be opened to address the growing popularity of online shopping. Australia Post chief executive officer Ahmed Fahour said that more than 10 million Australians are now going online to browse and shop. Australians are more busy than ever, juggling work and family.

These superstores will have round-the-clock zones with vending machines and document lockers. Customers also have the option to use self-service terminals where they can buy stamps, pay postage fees, post and collect parcels.

Other services provided by the digital mailbox include the ability to pay bills online, and store files in one location. The digital mailbox can also be used in different devices like laptop, mobile phone, and tablets.
