Vodafone Australia Unaffected With Class Action

March 2, 2013 by rochelle in Business with 0 Comments

Vodafone Australia appears unfazed with the class action filed on the mobile carrier company. Chief executive Bill Morrow said the customer class action has no impact on the company’s reputation.

Morrow said that the number of signatures in the class action remains the same when it was first reported in 2011. He added that he doesn’t believe it would have any damage on the brand.

The class action was first reported in 2010. Last Tuesday, a law firm has resurrected the case, saying it represents customers who are dissatisfied with its wireless broadband coverage.

Vodafone Australia recently announced that it is doubling its staff in its Tasmania call center. Some 750 jobs are likely to be added and would give $45 million yearly to the economy.

In contrast, Telstra announced that more than 600 call center jobs would be transferred to India and the Philippines. Telstra said its customers would receive better services from their India and Manila staff as these have better innovation and technologies.

Morrow said the addition of Vodafone staff in Australia is a response to the need of Australians to talk to customer service agents in Australia. He said that this is a strong message that Vodafone Australia is listening to its customers.
